The Top 5 MCAE (Pardot) Life Hacks from Over a Decade

Five practical MCAE/Pardot techniques — dynamic content, form data posts, field-based redirects, Engagement Studio data correction, and Page Actions for abandon cart.

Over more than a decade of working in Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (MCAE), formerly Pardot, these are the top five life hacks that consistently deliver results.

1. Creating Personalized Experiences with Dynamic Content

Personalization drives measurable results. According to research, “94% of companies experienced a rise in conversion rates after personalizing their websites,” while “59% of customers say tailored engagement based on past interactions is very important.”

Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (MCAE) enables dynamic customization of email headings, paragraphs, images, and calls-to-action based on prospect data. For example, changing email banners from shopping bags to windmills depending on whether “Retail” or “Energy” industries are selected demonstrates how prospect-specific content resonates.

Combining dynamic content with account-based strategies allows marketing teams to prioritize efforts on ideal target accounts, delivering white-glove experiences without overwhelming their resources.

2. Data Posts From Forms

Rather than manually exporting CSV files to share form registrations with partners, marketers can insert a script into the Thank You code section of MCAE forms to automatically share captured data to Slack, Google Sheets, secondary databases, or Zapier.

This automation eliminates the repetitive process of manual data sharing between collaborators on webinars or sponsored events.

3. Field Based Redirects

Using custom scripts in form Thank You code, marketers can create conditional redirects based on prospect field values—delivering “one page = multiple destinations.”

Use cases include redirecting unqualified demo form submissions to video content instead of sales scheduling, or routing prospects based on identified pain points to relevant resources like guides or on-demand content.

4. Engagement Studio for Data Correction

Rather than creating multiple automation rules for routine data cleanup, Engagement Studio consolidates these tasks into single programs. One example involves updating state field abbreviations (TX to Texas) to prevent sync errors between Salesforce and MCAE.

This approach also applies to legacy data migration, such as converting job titles into dropdown picklist roles for improved segmentation.

5. Page Actions for Abandon Cart

MCAE’s Page Actions feature tracks when prospects visit high-priority pages without converting. The workflow involves three steps:

  1. Set up Page Actions to flag visits to targeted pages (like a contact form)
  2. Add completion actions to forms to track submissions
  3. Use Engagement Studio to trigger follow-up emails when prospects view but don’t submit

With average cart abandonment rates at 70%, capturing these abandoned interactions can recover significant pipeline opportunity.
